Greetings from the Building Committee.

We hope this finds everyone well.  We want to thank everyone who took time to respond to the church wide survey that was sent out at the end of May.  Results of the survey are represented in the attached word clouds.  Our LS3P architects ( LS3P Faith ) compiled an initial draft of the word clouds after the committee agreed on which questions would be best to represent into word clouds.  The three questions chosen were:

  1. When inviting a new visitor to St. Matthew, what would be the one word you would use to describe the personality of your church?
  2. What outcomes must be achieved for you to judge a new building project as a success?
  3. Name some good things about your existing facility/ministry space?

We then spent several sessions editing the clouds (mostly by combining different words representative of the same concept) to best represent the ideas shared in the survey. Each member’s survey is represented in each cloud. The larger the word in the word cloud means it was mentioned in more survey responses.

In February LS3P was chosen as the architectural firm to work with our committee.  Their recommendation was to develop a multiyear multiphase masterplan to include all the buildings and associated infrastructure on our campus. Development of the masterplan requires input from the congregation and a construction company.

Our committee unanimously chose Mavin Construction company (Mavin/Ecclesiastical) as a consultant during the development of our masterplan. Mavin has been in business for 8 years and has a wealth of experience in church renovation and construction. Mavin and LS3P have partnered on multiple projects and we are very excited to have them both working with us.  All the preconstruction work from Mavin is without charge.  They are working as consultants for LS3P with the hopes of being selected as the contractor when work begins.

As we shared before, LS3P will be developing a multiyear masterplan for all of our current facilities. Next will be listening sessions with the architects and church members. The schedule is below. We have reserved some slots for certain groups to make sure they have a chance to meet with the architects, but all sessions have some open slots to give everyone a chance to participate. Open sign up will begin next Wednesday. You may e-mail Susan Woods or sign up via sign up genius link which will come out Monday in the weekly e-blast.
